As an athlete if you are looking to improve all around as far as increasing your flexibility, preventing lower back pain and even down to fixing your posture you HAVE to stretch your hamstrings. This stretch is great for strengthening and stretching starting from the waist down if you’re not able to touch the ground when you first start out try grabbing the back of your calves then slowly putting your finger tips on the ground at your own comfort level then start to touch your palms to the ground and eventually try to touch your stomach to your quads and allow your body to slowly fold in half while regulating your breathing. 🧘🏻‍♀️

How to execute a proper round kick: *The first step is to make sure that you are standing with your feet at shoulder width apart and your guard ready. With your supporting leg you then need to turn on the ball of your foot and making sure you are pivoting all the way through to avoid knee injuries (this is very important) once you are pivoted you’re going to extend your leg out ( remember where ever your knee points is where you’re leg is going to follow so if you lift your knee up higher you’re aiming for the face, if you’d like to target the mid section lift the knee up slightly above the height of your waist) make sure you hit with the top of the foot and take your shot anywhere to the opponent’s back or core or take your shot to the head. 💪🏼

In reality, sports (especially fighting sports) is just about 100% mental. Weather you’re realizing it or not our thoughts influence our actions greatly and vise-versa. This cycle does not end and can make even the best athletes crash under pressure simply out of nerves, over thinking, not being confident enough…etc. You must make sure your mind is in a good place and that you are practicing positive self talk and building yourself up mentally. Meditation and having a steady mind is very much crucial as well. As much as you give your body a good workout you must also exercise and also relax your mind. 💭💪🏼🏅

Here I am executing a front leg kick. 🥷💪🏼Make sure that when executing this kick you hit with the top of your foot and you are always pivoting properly especially when you execute a round house kick or any form of turning kick to ensure a significantly less chance of injury. If you don’t pivot correctly and turn too quickly unfortunately it can lead to too much pressure on your knees and you can eventually tear ligaments in your knee! Always make sure you are taking the necessary precautions. 💥
