When climbing a route in the gym you have to start on designated holds, then only use the appropriate colored holds on the route to finish on the last hold of the climb without falling. 🧗🏻♀️ 💪🏻 If you knew nothing about the route before you climbed it (and made it), then you “on sighted” the route. If you complete the route on the first try without falling, but you had watched someone else climb it first or you were given hints on how to climb the route, then that means you “flashed” the route. Climbing hints = beta! Recently I on-sighted this 5.11c!

This route is a little awkward with holds we call pinches and side pulls plus it requires a lot of footwork. This route is rated as a 5.11c. What do you like about watching me climb? I LOVE a good pump after climbing. It’s kind of like a runner’s high giving you the satisfaction of feeling and seeing the hard work you just did. I might have been caught checking out my muscles and admiring those veins … a doctor always appreciates good veins 😉
