I tried to post this yesterday, but, it was taken down due to adding pictures as a baby, lol. Anyways, I wanted to explain in detail what happened to make me an amputee. I know I have told most of you a summary, but, I thought maybe it'll be easier if I explain it in detail here. So... When I was two years old I ran into a doorframe, it was the usual "bruise that never went away"...after some time with the bruise only worsening, I had completely stopped using my right arm. My grandfather was a doctor, thankfully he had the connections to expedite the wait for appointments. I was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma in July 2003, not even an entire month after turning two years old. I was the youngest person with this type of cancer (I think because of the aggressive type it was). Four of the best hospitals in my area teamed together to create a chemotherapy treatment for me. After that first round, the cancer was beginning to spread closer to my ribcage. The doctors told my parents the options. Pray and hope that the chemo will start to work or amputating. But, if the cancer went into my ribcage there would be no option of amputation. After so many more doctors telling my parents that those were the options, they had decided to....you guessed it, amputate. In September 2003, they removed my right arm, shoulder, shoulder blade, right collarbone, and some pectoral muscle. After amputating, a second round of chemotherapy was given just to be safe. This year I will be 20 years in remission. Luckily, in my memory I have always had one arm. Which is why I am able to do so much. I also think this is why I am so accepting of the devotee community. My entire life having one arm was seen to everyone around me as a flaw. Something you have to look past. Until, I found this community. I am very insecure about a lot of my body, but surprisingly...missing my right arm is not one. I love being an amputee. I love proving everyone wrong. I love the jokes I get to make. I love that I am able to help newer arm amputees learn how to live their everyday life without a prosthetic. I will be explaining my personal experience with wearing a functional prosthetic. To those who love that I am an amputee, thank you. Thank you for showing me that there are people in this world that see it as beautiful instead of a flaw. I hope that this was easy to follow, do not hesitate to ask me anything. I appreciate you, regardless if are here because of my amputation ❤️ Thank you for taking the time to read this!
