It’s easy to take a situation and let it stand in your mind as a “negative” situation. Whether it’s extra paperwork at your job, someone bumps you on the walk to your car, or your crush doesn’t text you back...it all sucks! But what it’s made me realize is that we, as a species, love to assign values to things. Happiness, sadness, anger, depression, anxiety..really any feeling we may have comes as a result of the value we’ve assigned to things that happen in our lives. Money brings us pleasure, love brings us comfort, rude people bring anger, etc...Try to remember that you CONTROL the values that you assign things. You don’t HAVE to let situations control your state of mind. I’m saying all this as part of some of the advice I’ve been giving my bf this week. A few have asked why I haven’t been as chatty this week, and it’s because of a shitty situation in which he purchased a car that turned out to be stolen...they took his car, and his money is gone. They said it’s pretty likely he’ll never see that money again. 20+ grand gone in the blink of an eye. He feels terrible. He blames himself. He’s angry, sad, dejected...slowly he’s coming around to the notion that it is reality, that there’s nothing he can do now but look forward. Realize that much worse could have happened... there is still a lingering feeling of pain and sadness that comes with months and months of saving up to buy the car he loved, but he’s staying focused on his goals. He’s not moping, he’s not being closed off. It’s honestly been inspirational to see. Anyway! I say this all to explain my poor rate of response, but more importantly, to think long and hard about the way you let little things bother you. Because if this guy can get past such a terrible thing, a little bit of extra paperwork isn’t so bad, and the guy that bumped past you probably got to his destination in time, and that crush prob— hey...I thought I was your crush?!!!? 😡 Jokes aside, most aren’t here to read my rant. So enjoy your weekend and maybe this video helps ;) ❤️
