I wanna be real with you all though- I'm on vacation from the salon but I'm really tired. My chronic back pain is really taking a toll on my spirit. I also am covered in a rash that is itchy and painful, and I feel a tad defeated today. I look back at this picture and am like, wow, I can't believe that's me! This is one reason I love photography. Today while I sit in bed sipping my coffee and responding to messages, feeling no where near this glamorous- in pain, honestly just feeling low- I can think back and remember all the amazing things my body still does.

Today I might just be sad though, and that's ok. Chronic pain is, for lack of a better term, a mind fuck. I feel on one hand no one gets it and on the other when I try and explain it I feel annoying as hell. I think that's just how it goes. I know my other Chronic pain people understand- unfortunately. Regardless, tomorrow is a new day (and I'm OFF! on a Saturday!?!?) And I'm sure my spirits will be a bit lifted- you all always help me with that. Who says you can't have healthy, relaxed hair?? Not I!!! With proper maintenance at home and a stylist who puts the health of your hair first, it's absolutely possible! I love working with my natural folks, but I'm all for my clients doing what works best for them and their lifestyle! Natural hair is still A LOT of work, just in a different way. Look at her length, how full her ends are, and how much shine and movement her hair has! She likes to go between wearing it like this and having braids or partial installations and has found the perfect groove to keep her hair long, manageable, and most importantly- healthy!

Orange and yellow hair is a VIBEEEE. This lovely human I've know well over a decade, we have done so many fun colors (one day I think I'll do a compilation of all of them!) and after beating cancer and growing her hair back out, she decided she wants a signature color, so we went back to the orange and yellow. Here I am working on my Mizani Aircut Cerification yesterday! (look at that Focus Face in the preview shot 😅) I had a big cancelation and wanted to just relax, however I always have something I could be doing! (I disappear for a few seconds randomly throughout this video answering phones and helping out other stylists, but thats ok!) This took about an hour, all reduced down to 1 minute in hyperlapse! I've been really busy creating content for you guys and also trying to work through messages so THANK YOU for your continued patience! I'm just one human so it can be a lot-but I do love every minute of it all! What questions do you have about the Aircut??
Flashback tutorial on how to properly condition your hair! This is so imperative when it comes to keeping hair healthy! Shampoo, lightly and gently towel dry, add your conditioner from midstrand to ends, and finally use a wide tooth comb, Denman brush, or wet brush to evenly distribute the conditioner to make sure all those strands are getting the benefit of your conditioner! This will help prevent breakage and frizz and increase manageability! Hope this helps for ya 💕
Swipe swipe swipe for after! She had about a 6 month old ombre and we wanted to keep it more "bronde" and dimensional so all I did was pop about 8 balayage foils in there, toned her, trimmed her, and voila- lookin fresh af!
UPDATE 2: xrays came back pretty normal, showed signs of irritation in her intestines and colon, but all her organs look in the right places and right shapes 😅 they did say my ol gal is getting arthritis in her spine, but that's for another day. We have to wait for lab results but until then she is getting a prescription Bland Diet "digestive health" food and we are adjusting a couple other things. Fingers crossed all her levels will be normal tomorrow when we get the results! $450 later, we are going home to relax a bit.
UPDATE: They are going to start with x-rays today and lab work to make sure she doesn't have a rip or blockage in her abdominal area. Thank you all SO MUCH for the help so far. We love you!
Yall my little nugget is sick :( I thought it was just her food, so last week she went to the vet to check her out, they thought it was more of a "Mabel gut issue" vs the food. So she's been on a bland diet of chicken and rice for about a week and a half and then the vet had me add a probiotic to her food and also omeprazole at night for acid reflux for her. She normally isn't the type of dog who vomits a lot, and she's thrown up today, Monday, and Friday. Friday I called and they told me the Omeprazole can take a bit to kick in so be patient, but this isn't normal for her. So she's going back in today. I'm raising a bit of money because this is the second time she's going to the vet in a week and I'm going to ask them check her levels today to make sure her liver and pancreas values and everything are okay. Anything you can spare for the little bug is much appreciated. Kisses from us both!
I tried a new product combo last night! I used the Amika Sexture shampoo- I was scared because you don't condition with this and with my wavy, prelightened hair that could be disastrous and end up with my hair crisping away in the wind 😅 I followed the shampoo with the new Mizani CocoDew (which smells AMAZING) and the Olaplex #7 Bonding Oil. My hair feels sooooo soft, is still nice and moisturized, and definitely got a more uniform wave than usual! My little baby waves are comin through yall!
Grown out balayage, refreshed! We did a partial highlight, then I did a "shadow root" or "root sumdge" to give her a lived in, softer look! I like to do a raindrop parting for these and keep the front hairline out to keep it nice and bright around the face! Healthy, shiny, and dimensional 😊

Fun fact! I'm in the process for being certified to do the Mizani AirCut! This is a technique for textured hair to create more definition and "air" in the hair! Here I am with my first live model who has been my client for the last decade! Kinda full circle or something I guess ☺ I'm so lucky to have such amazing clients that trust me with their beautiful hair! Let's talk Color Corrections- this encompasses anything that can have unpredictable outcomes. Going from very dark to very light, fixing mess ups, and in this case, trying to remove non-professional direct dyes and even out her canvas. We have about 3 inches of outgrowth, the pink was stuck on the top section of her hair around her crown below that, some spots that were already platinum and some spots that were gold. Needless to say, this one kept me on my toes. The results turned out pretty dope, and we will go through another session to hopefully get her to her fully platinum goal! For now we have a deeper, icey-beige blonde!
In the salon about 3 more hours. Whew today is a busy one. Ran 45 minutes behind with a color correction because that's the game ya play with color corrections-- can't wait to make the video and show you guys the outcome tho because 🤯🤯 it turned out great! A fresh precision bob is so enticing and satisfying! She rocks this cut so well! I haven't seen her in almost a year (thanks pandemic!) and recently watched the movie I Care A Lot where the main actress (Rosamund Pike) had this dope super sleek precise Bob. The hairstylist in me couldn't get over it 😅. Lo and behold, 2 weeks later my client comes in to bring her sharp Bob back! I was so excited lol it's the little things, right?
