The atmosphere in America today is usually one of excitement and warm sunshine. It’s the most popular day of the year for Americans to get together with friends to share a meal and enjoy the outdoors, usually with a relaxed mindset. Despite political divides it is important to remember that people have fought for our freedom. Not everyone lives in a place that offers as much to celebrate. So enjoy the mood, celebrate your freedoms, and soak up some sunshine. Stay safe out there … oh, and enjoy the fireworks ✨💥✨💥

It’s humbling to run a race. Truthfully, it’s easy to stand at the start line and scan the crowd, eyeing the competition, forming hypotheses on who might place and who may not even finish. The thing about racing is that often times the most defined muscled bodies aren’t the ones crossing the finish line with record times. People of all ages and body types can finish so differently. Racing proves that cardiovascular health, stamina, and grit are not always grossly recognizable via aesthetics.
The same goes for us and who we are, what we can and can’t do, or will or won’t do. It’s also impossible to know who has struggled to get where they are, who has persevered through adversity, or just pushed towards greatness even when the world was making it hard to stand.
I can’t look at people and tell who has served our country either. It isn’t always obvious which people have sacrificed time, mental health, and their own wellbeing so that we can live free, find abundant opportunities, and relax in the comfort of knowing we have a safe place to live. It feels like veterans deserve a little recognition today since they are a big part of how we made it here, but I know they get their own day too. 🇺🇸 🥰
This Independence Day I am reflecting on the privileges that I DO have, the freedoms that empower me, and the hope that accompanies opportunity to live a life that suits this American girl.

It’s out there … maybe hidden in plain sight a lot of the time, but waiting for you to see it during everyday chores, mixed into the ordinary, and dancing in the sky. I think it’s pretty clear that horses are a huge part of my life. Most “horse people” love talking about their horses and providing examples and stories about how they have impacted their lives. My horses give me more than I could ever give them back, they loan me wings, keep me humble, and show me that while size does matter, a leader’s presence and direction matters more.

This week for the plank challenge I set up the camera to capture a southern sunrise. I wanted to share how the clouds softly roll by and the golden sunbeams stream across the sky covering my farm in the mornings. My favorite part of my view, aside from the sky, is unsurprisingly the creatures meandering contently in the background. 🐴 Take a moment, breathe deep, focus, and be inspired to capitalize on an opportunity to start your next journey with the dawn of a new day.

I find myself wanting to save my nicest things for some elusive date or unscheduled vacation. Maybe as someone who has had to work hard to acquire nice things I have made this a protective mechanism of not wanting to wear out nice things or use them up, but it’s an issue I’m trying to correct. None of us need to wait on doing things that feel good and improve our daily being. I think I generally do a decent job of keeping my numbers in line with what I think my art is worth. It is hard to price unique content and to settle on numbers. I’m just trying to be fair to myself and share some of my private world with those who choose to unlock the sections I choose to share.
I think people have proven time and time again that if you want something bad enough you can likely achieve it …IF you are willing to work hard enough for it.
Sure, there are some people born into having access to things that others can only dream about in their youth. There are also some people born with natural talents and abilities enabling them to do things others require years and years filled with countless hours of practice to acquire.
If you weren’t born into your dream life or blessed with raw talent, then it doesn’t mean you can’t get to where you want to go… only that you might have to dig a little deeper, work a little harder, show up a little earlier, and leave a little later. I think with relentless determination it’s possible to overcome obstacles when your soul is fueled by insatiable drive.
It’s a new week and every new day is a new chance to start heading towards wherever it is you want to go. Some of us might arrive a little later, but that just gives us more time to discover some amazing sights along the way. Soak it in, drink it up, and keep on walking along your path to get to where you want to go.

Like horses, I have found I fight against pressure unless I understand and agree with why it’s placed. I am skeptical, but curious. Slow to befriend, but loyal when the relationship is genuine. I want to be wild with the wind in my hair, but protected from the hate and dangers of the world. No wonder it feels like the horses and I understand each other so well. 💜🐎💜
