Top of the morning to you! A new day, a new week, and a new month! Talk about the start of new things today! Since we are still virtually traveling all together to Rome, I thought I'd share some pics of me having an espresso in a small cafe. I was just one block away from the Trevi Fountain. Talking about espressos, let's talk about how Italians do it. First of all, NO Starbucks. I bring back Starbucks mugs from all around the world (kind of an old tradition), but I could never get one back from Italy because of well...NO Starbucks! There's a strong coffee culture in Italy (that I LOVE!) and there's not a single country in the world doing it as good as Italy! Here's a few things that are MUCH different in Italy vs. Canada or the USA. 1. You won't be getting your coffee from a cafe or a coffee shop. It's called a bar over there. And they are all over the place. 2. You don't sit and sip your coffee for hours. Don't ask for a to-go cup either. You stop at the bar, you order your espresso, and you leave. You usually don't even sit down. It's one or two sips, and goodbye! 3. A cappuccino is served with breakfast. You do not order one past 11 AM. HOW DARE YOU! They believe that milk slows down your digestion, son you should only have it in the morning. 4. If you ask for a caffè, while it also means coffee, you'll receive an espresso. They don't use the word espresso there. 5. Talking about espresso, it's usually what you order after dinner in Italy. 6. You're ordering a latte? You'll receive a glass of milk! Joke's on you! And the most important of all? Don't EVER use the Starbucks language to order the size of your coffee! LOL a Venti Coffee....you'll get the biggest WTF face ;) That's about it for our Italian coffee crash course! I've been sipping mine while writing those words, and I have a BIG day ahead! I need to put on the wallpaper in the zen room (wish me luck, will try to show you updates!). I also have my workout and, yes, I said I needed some days off, but that won't be today. I have cut down to 2 coffees a day this month MAX. No more energy drinks. And it's been quite an easy and sweet ride (surprisingly, I expected it to be MUCH harder! I used to down energy drinks like they were water!)...but somehow, today, I'm already ready for my second cup of coffee and it's only 1 pm LOL! This will be a LONG end of the month !!! Tiramisu porn time!!! I had to share the best Tiramisu I had in Rome. (for those just joining us or those who have been sleeping under a rock this past week, we are virtually travelling in Italy together - currently in Rome!) It is relatively close to the hotel I was talking to you about earlier this week. It's called Mr. 100 Tiramisu. YA, I KNOW...how original! The place is very tiny, with only a few tables. And you have to KNOW it exists because you won't ever find it otherwise. It's located in a back alley, close to apartments where, as a tourist, you have no reason to walk around. Their original one will leave you speechless, but the dope, fucked up, super fun thing about this place, you ask me? They have 100 variations you can try with a bunch of local products in it (yeah, you guessed it, that's why it's called Mr. 100 Tiramisu, you're almost as good with puzzles as Gregory House!) Anyhow, this is my Tiramisu recommendation! I haven't had one in forever... yum! Do you like Tiramisu? If not, you are now off my husband material list LOL! We can still fuck though ;)

FOOOOOD LOVERS! Are you ready? Foodgasms coming up!!! I created a poll two days ago about whether you wanted to hear about Rome's best tiramisu or the best pasta and pizza. It seems like you guys are more salty than sweet. Talking about food here, pervs! The second option won, so here it is! The place is called Pasta e Vino Osteria. On TripAdvisor, it's ranked 39th out of over 10,000 restaurants in Rome. Okay, I'll admit it, it didn't make top-20, so it can't be as good as me, but it's still pretty darn good ;) The good thing about this restaurant? Don't expect any touristic trap or that shit some of those Rome restaurants try to make you ingest. Hey, talk about a great business. You just have to be located close to a major tourist attraction, and you can charge 25 euros for a can of soup and some store-bought pasta. Trust me; your terrace will be packed with fuckers falling for it. I've seen it. And I've been one of the imbeciles the first time I was in Rome. I learned through time and experience. You NEED to do your research beforehand when you're going to such popular tourist destinations. Well, if you want to eat great local food, you have to. If you're just happy eating shit, I won't be judging you. But you won't be bringing me to any restaurant any time soon then! LOL I Back to our main topic: Pasta e Vino Osteria. It's a small restaurant. In Canada, we're used to restaurants opening at 11 AM for lunch. I think it's pretty much the same thing in the USA from what I remember (hey, haven't been in a year, I'm starting to forget!!!) So, both times, I got there around 11ish. I was super hungry, as with the jet lag, I am usually up around 5 AM to start my day in Europe. Anyhow, Europe isn't Canada. It was opening at noon. I looked like a pasta craving slut waiting at their door for an hour! LOL Once they finally dare to open their doors, and after seeing the staff get inside one by one (there was one guy on a cool scooter, a French guy on a not so cool scooter, and a brunette with a tight butt), I had freshly made pasta, gnocchi, and pizza. I also had their burrata and so many other things. It was SO FUCKING GOOD that I changed my plans to get back there the next day. My first visits were in 2018. I got back in 2019, and guess what, the staff remembered me! I wonder if they remembered me for the boobs or for the fact I was the girl waiting in front of their restaurant at 11 AM one year ago! It always shocks me how OFTEN I get recognized when I go back to a place in Europe, even if it's two or three years later. Side note. I had planned to go to the Vatican after my lunch. Walking from the restaurant to the Vatican was a 30-minute walk. When you are filled with pasta and pizza, and it's almost 35C outside...this was a living hell walk! haha Anyways, once again, I can't stop talking. Here are some pictures from my visits. Oh, and I forgot to talk about the sauces. Holy Pope, they were gooooooood! The sauces were, didn't taste the Pope so can't comment on that matter. And the wine list...and I'm hungry now! Good job, Riley, for making yourself crave pasta now! Write that down in your stops if you ever go to Rome and ask them if they remember that Canadian pasta craving blonde slut waiting at their door at 11 AM ;)

NEW ADVENTURE starting NOW! (this is a virtual traveling experience, hop on and follow me on this Italian journey in the next 2 weeks) There is something about Rome that is magical. But first, let me make you discover THE place where you should stay in Rome. As you already know, whenever I travel to a country, I am looking for three things in a hotel. 1- Breakfast with a view. No matter how good the food is at the hotel, I believe that I make a freaking fantastic breakfast at home. I'm not flying 8 hours to eat my croissant between four walls. 2- History. I don't want any of those technological modern hotels (this is even more essential if I'm in Europe). Give me something that has some history. Bring me somewhere where I can feel the past in between these walls. I want to hear the ghosts moaning, I want to feel the spirits embracing me, I want to read that lambs were sacrificed on the fifth floor in 1292! 3- Great customer service. That's a given though, although...is it? This is a topic for another post. Let me introduce to you, the Oprah of Rome hotels, the Michael Jordan of hospitality in Italy, the hotel that will heighten your roman experience: Eitch Borromini Palazzo Pamphilj! There is a marvellous outdoor terrace with a perfect view of the Fountain of the Four Rivers (sculpted by Bernini, a cool dead architect). You will have some Prosecco while listening to the sound of the bells from Santa Agnese, the church tower next to the hotel. You can have your morning coffee, watching the sunrise, and the Piazza Navona slowly turning from a pigeon rave to a human one. Far away, you can even notice the dome of the Pantheon of St. Peter. The food is everything that you expect from any European breakfast. It isn't something you'd kill for, but it's good enough that no one could really complain about it. Anyhow, what matters is the rest. This Piazza is way less known than many other ones in Rome, thus making the rooms way more affordable than if you were to stay close to the Trevi Fountain. I could basically walk everywhere I wanted within 15-30 minutes, including the Colosseum, Vatican, Trevi Fountain, etc. Service is stellar. Rooms are old (DUH) but the comfort is perfect. You'll see some different day and night pictures from different places on the Piazza Navona that is about 2 minutes from your room (once you go down the spiral staircase - it's the original one and pretty cool!) Now, as I'm pretty much aware, schools are closed and Netflix is making you and your family dumber every minute. Rest assured, I'm always here to bring you some rad knowledge. This hotel resides in a 17th century palace, and was designed by Francesco Borromini, a project that started in 1654 and was assigned by pope Innocent X (am I the only one thinking about the movie Project X?). This six floors high building was first used as a College for priestly training and cultural education (mainly for the rich Pamphilj family). The "best" students were admitted at 7 yaears old and would stay there until being considered adult and ready to continue their ecclesiastic career. Who the hell is Borromini? He is (or was) an Italian architect who studied under a the guy who would have been prom king: Michelangelo. Apparently, Borromini was a self-taught scholar (would have fared good in this pandemic), melancholic (never mind, he wouldn't have done well at all!), and had a quick temper. He was seen as a genius in term of Baroque architecture, was appreciated for his inventiveness, and committed suicide in 1667. Well, that turned dark pretty quickly. Brief summary for your exam: Rich family is tight with the pope. They decide to give away some money for their kids to get a direct admission in college (god, times didn't change). New wing is built for future mini popes (with the family name), designed by a sad genius architect, paid by a rich family, and approved by an Innocent guy. Basically, Harvard of the 1600s. How about we finish that post with some cool photoshoot pictures on the terrace where the Pope use to chill? I've visited this hotel for the first time in 2018. I went back in 2019. It was THAT good! This hotel deserves to be around forever, and I sure hope it will. I've visited Rome 3 times already, and I would still go back in a heartbeat tomorrow! Now, while going through my pictures for this post, I found these two pictures of a dude on his knees blowing two phallic shaped objects at the same time on the Piazza Navona. Left one was taken in 2018. Right one was taken in 2019. Glad to see that I'm consistent and predictable in my childish giggles!
