I believe pleasure and ecstasy live along the spectrum of erotic expression, yet this spectrum is gigantic (like infinitely gigantic) in that the grief and despair also live on this spectrum as well.
What do you mean?
How could grief be erotic?
Well…
Have you ever let grief move through your body? Have you felt how it can ripple out through you like waves, like echoes that have the potential to burst your heart wide open? Connect you to God? And activate your sacral energy and creative power simultaneously? I mean let’s consider how much art comes from both grief and sexual desire..❤️🔥💦
A lot of people would say no, they haven’t really let grief move through their body.
Why? Because we tend to suppress big feelings like this in our culture.
We suppress the grief, and then we simultaneously suppress the ecstasy.
We numb ourselves either way.
Are you starting to understand?
Learning to move from the energy of Eros (or more-so learning to return to our true sexual nature) allows us to realize that we have the capacity to welcome both into our lives, to let the entire spectrum of eroticism turn us on, inspire us, guide us, and expand us all at the same time.
Not only the part that is limited to pleasure but one that encompasses all of life. Mmmm yes please 🙏🏼
