I choose to amputate my leg. It was caused by alot of things. I had had 11 surgeries, 2 full knee replacements between ages 16-26, All failed. I couldn't do the chronic pain, depression got worse bc i was limited to doing anything physical, and pain consumed me. They found out in the end that I have a rare genetic connective tissue disorder. Eherlos-Danlos Syndrome. It affects my joints and how flexible they are, how I heal, osteoarthritis.
Also I wanted to be there for my kids more. Play with them outside. Being a single mom is hard enough without this on top of it.
So I made the decision to have it taken off.
I move more now without it then with it. And my medications i took are down to half. My depression is better.
They say we are more than flesh, really is true for me.
Some days are still a shell shock to my brain. Even though i made the descision and am happier now, it still affects my self esteem.
I have many goals in now able to do. Going back to college for a BS in health and behavior with a focus in marine Biology.
I.plan to get ino shape to compete in thd Para-Olympics.
Many have a hard time telling their story, i want mine to empower who ever sees this that, there is so much more to life.
