years past I used to be the kind to throw a big elegant and themed backyard soirée with lots of friends.
Moving across the world has a way of disrupting those traditions a bit. Half my friends locally are gone and I didn’t make plans this birthday. That made me sad at first, lonely. Last minute I asked a girlfriend if she wanted to take a naked swim in the ocean to celebrate my birthday and a new year starting. She immediately said yes! She picked me up this morning with fresh croissants and we drove out to the sea. It had stormed earlier so the waves were brutal and strong, but the Atlantic waters were tepid and refreshing…it’s almost the time of year when the water turns warm. This morning was special. So special. I’m grateful for friends who love on me and make me laugh.
I’m headed to spontaneous dinner with my group of pals now. Then early to bed. Getting old(er) is fucking great.
