*tip: watch to the end* ;-)
I was going through my mom’s **old cookbooks**, hand-written recipes on index cards, ripped out Bonapatite magazine recipes from the 1970's...when **I found the cardboard packaging for Land O Lakes butter** (which was at least as old as I am.)

*I instantly knew exactly what it was.*

I unfolded the box and looked on the inside...and was flooded with nostalgia. Sure enough, typed on inside of the butter packaging was THE true traditional fudge recipe.

Back in the day certain common American household ingredients came with cooking and baking recipes discreetly on the inside of packaging.

Chocolate fudge is candy. And **real candy making is a dangerous spor**t. Lots of heat, caramelizing sugars over stove and A LOT OF ELBOW GREESE. a lot. Like for real, you need some upper body strength for making candy! I might be a bit pudgy, but make no mistake…*your girl is strong*.

Well worth the hours of effort. Final product was exactly how I remembered from decades past. The taste, the texture! True fudge. Just like your mama, and your mama’s mama used to make. The kind that gets even better after it sits for a few days. Now that the seasons are changing and cool weather is coming soon, I cannot wait to make another batch for the upcoming chosen-family holiday gatherings.
