Some horses are able to maintain soundness being barefoot, some need front shoes only, some need shoes all the way around, and some need special shoes. The act of placing horseshoes on a horses’ feet is called having them “shod.” These two are coming in for their turn with the farrier today … my horses are on a 5 week schedule, but depending on the horses’ needs some are seen as often as every 2-3 weeks and some people try to stretch out farrier visits to every 8 weeks.
