In an effort to prepare for winter I have had to start storing away hay. Horses require 2% of their body weight per day in forage … this means when the grass dies back they often need to be supplemented with hay. In some situations certain grains can make up for some of their forage requirements, but as hind gut fermenters horses’ digestive tracts are always best served and suited for the digestion of forage. I thought I might share a little about the type of hay I feed and a few teaser photos, but more photos will be coming along behind this post …. Meer you at the top of the hay stall later? 🤭
